Decision on US gaming study postponed

Shelley Berkley’s Internet Gambling Study Act has been left hanging until the House Judiciary Committee comes back from its Congressional summer break.  The bill proposes the US government conduct a one-year study on online gaming to be conducted under the auspice of the National Academy of Sciences.

The bill offers hope for many international online gaming companies that the US may reconsider its current protectionist online gaming policies.  The implementation of the notorious Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act in late 2006 saw many non-US online gaming operations lose one of its largest and most profitable markets.

The loss of the US market prompted some online casinos, such as Windows Casino, to develop other potential markets in Europe and Asia.  Windows Casino is now one of the most successful online casinos operating in the European gambling market and offers a range of language options for European players.

Windows Casino is well placed to take advantage of a relaxation in US online gaming policy should the proposed Berkley study conclude a return to a regulated US gaming market is warranted.
