Despite the failure of Congressman Barney Frank’s attempt to halt implementation of the regulations governing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), there are still voices in the US capitol willing to make their opposition heard.
Four Republican US representatives are the latest to express dissatisfaction at the way UIGEA is being implemented and have delivered an open letter to the Federal Reserve Board and U.S. Treasury calling for a different and more deliberative look at crafting UIGEA’s regulations. UIGEA seeks to disrupt financial transactions between US players and non-US online gambling companies while also making the enforcement of the law the burden of the financial services industry.
Windows Casino was one of the major online casino enterprises affected by the implementation of UIGEA but has subsequently developed its European market to compensate for the lost US market. A return to being able to access the US market would be welcome by Windows Casino and the efforts by US politicians to have UIGEA repealed are strongly supported by most non-US online gaming concerns.
